Jesus Chirst was born on Dec. 24th, so there are only four weeks until Christmas … and the fantastic rate to get ready for the festive season has started.
Christmas is a time we celebrate using cake, cards, gifts, decorated trees, a holiday and special food and is a period when families and friends gather http://www.christianitytoday.com/ together to share enjoyment, love and hopefully peace.
But what of the weeks before this day that is special? How will we prepare for this amazing time of the year?
Frequently we find that we are so busy with the groundwork the true meaning of the party only evaporates among the chaotic shopping, never-ending and decorating parties and Christmas functions.
In the Christian calendar, next Sunday is the first of four Sundays of Advent, a word that means preparing for an event.Additionally it is the word from which our English word adventure is derived, meaning to undertake a venture or experience in life.
As we journey together in these next weeks I trust and pray that we will be getting prepared for the birth of Jesus.
We are able to send cards, give gifts and share meals together that speak of our love for family, neighbours and friends, and take time out to consider God’s enormous love for you and me in the maximum gift that anyone could give – Himself, in the type of a tiny infant who grew in both body and spirit to become our Lord and Saviour offering to us eternal life. Take an adventure this Advent that will bring us all to a Christmas which is filled with hope, refreshment, peace and love
