Our Lord and Savior was born on December 24th, so there are only four weeks until Christmas … and the cracking rate to get ready for the festive season has started.

Christmas is a time we celebrate having cake, cards, presents, decorated trees, a holiday and special food and is a time when families and friends gather together to share happiness, love and hopefully peace.

But what of the weeks before this special day? How will we prepare for this wonderful time of the year?

Frequently we find that we have been so occupied with all of the groundwork the actual meaning of the party simply disappears among the chaotic shopping, never-ending and decorating parties and Christmas functions.

In the Christian calendar, next Sunday is the first of four Sundays of Advent, a word that means preparing for an occasion.It’s also the word from which our English word adventure is derived, meaning to take on a venture or experience in life.
